On July 6th at 4 pm Professor. Dr. Robbert Dijkgraaf, President of the KNAW, University Professor, as well as former Rietveld student will officially open the exhibition.
Over 200 students from the departments Architectural Design, Fine Arts, VAV, Fashion, Textile, Ceramics, designLAB, Image&Language, Jewellery, Dogtime, Graphic Design and Photography will present their works to the public.

On Saturday July 9th the winners of the GRA Awards will be made public. An external jury will announce which students are the most remarkable ones of 2011.

Open Ateliers of Rijksakademie will take place on December 1st and 2nd, 2007, from 11:00 until 19:00 pm.

“From 1997 to 2004, seven sessions of symposiums were held. In September 2003, International Sculpture Conference was held successfully. Up till now, 296 sculptors from 130 countries have created 341 sculptures for the city representing diverse kinds of artistic styles from around the world. The sculptures are all displayed in Changchun World Sculpture Park. The park covers 92 hectares, in which a specialized Sculpture Gallery covers 12.5 thousand square kilometers, holding nearly 100 excellent works created by national and international well-known sculptors and over 500 African Makonde wood sculptures with unique style.

With the theme of “Friendship, Peace and Spring”, the 8th Changchun China International Sculpture Symposium, which lasts for about 40 days, will be held from July to August, 2006, for further promoting international cultural exchanges and improving Changchun urban sculpture construction.”

Interview with the great artist and friend of mine has changed my life. I was already looking for more information about the guy since I haven’t seen him for a while. Then, I contacted him and discovered he is just busy with exhibition in Warszawa, and a theater play.
There is some more on his project in Israel.
I am looking forwards to see him and his work here in Amsterdam again.

“Marina Abramovic’s exhibition is comprised of several video projections, which explore how sexuality and the human body were employed in Balkan pagan traditions and culture throughout history. Abramovic researched Serbian folklore and discovered many historic instances of the employment of eroticism and sexuality to address everyday issues. For example, if it rained too much the women of the village would run into the fields and lift their skirts in an attempt to scare the gods and end the rain. Along with amateur actors, Abramovic dressed in traditional folk costumes and reenacted ancient rituals. The videos examine Balkan folklore and culture, the power of sexuality and tradition.”
